After promotion winning manager Neil Critchleyover the summer, Blackpool entered the new campaign with Michael Appleton at the helm, and they got off to a winning start against Reading before suffering defeats to Stoke City and Swansea City and dropping out of the EFL Cup to Barrow.

The Tangerines then traveled to Queens Park Rangers in their bid to find their way back to winning ways and were successful, eventually coming away with a 1-0 win as Josh BowlerThe half-time goal made the difference.

With six points from four games, Appleton’s men then faced the tough test of a trip to Burnley and, after leading 3-1 until the 70th minute, they were finally able to collect some of the spoils whereas Shayne Lavery and jerry yates hit goals in three minutes.

They recently faced Bristol City at home and played out another spectacular draw with the same scoreline, having again snatched a point late as Theo Corbeanu hit a 90th-minute leveler after Bowler and Yates got on the scoresheet on a home-and-away at Bloomfield Road.

Now sitting on a pleasing tally of eight points from six outings, the Tangerines will aim to continue their positive start to life under Appleton and leave their Lancashire rivals with a home win, but they face a side in contention to bounce back. Course.

Tomasson’s men would then suffer a defeat by the same scoreline at Sheffield United, as Ollie Norwood opened the scoring and Iliman Ndiaye struck a brace in the second half, before they could claim a 2-1 victory at Bradford City in the second round of the EFL Cup with Bradley Dack and Dilan Markanday arrive on the score sheet.

After quickly falling from the top of the table following their three consecutive defeats, Blackburn will be desperate to get back into shape with an away win on Wednesday.

Blackpool have a long list of selection issues to deal with, as Keshi Anderson, Luke Garbutt, Jake Beesley, Charlie Patino and Lewis Fiorini are all sidelined by injuries, while the defender Rhys Williams is a doubt after facing Bristol City and the midfielder Sonny Carey is suspended.

In the likely absence of Williams, Jordan Thorniley could fit in the back four next Marvin Ekpitetawhile Callum Connolly may need to supplement in midfield alongside Kenneth Dougall.

Theo Corbeanu will be hoping to earn a start after his equalizer on the bench last time out, but he faces stiff competition, with Josh Bowler and Jerry Yates also adding to their tally in this game while Gary Madine will continue to lead the line.

Blackburn also have several injuries to plan for, as defenders Scott Warton and Callum Brittany are ruled out alongside midfielder Sammie Szmodics.

Given these absences, Joe Rankin Costello should again operate on the right side of a back four with Ashley Phillips ready to join Daniel Ayala in the middle of the defence, while Liverpool on loan Tyler Morton hopes to keep his place in the engine room after coming next John Buckley and Lewis Travis the last time.

Competition for attacking places is particularly fierce, with Ben Brereton Diaz linked to stardom, while Bradley Dack secured a first league start to the season against Stoke with Sam Gallagher, Tyrhys Dolan, ryan hedges and jack vale also in the running for the starting places.

Possible starting line-up for Blackpool:
Grimshaw; Lawrence-Gabriel, Ekpiteta, Thorniley, Thompson; Connolly, Dougall; Corbeanu, melon; Yates, Madine

Possible starting line-up of Blackburn Rovers:
Kaminsky; Rankin-Costello, Ayala, Phillips, Pickering; Buckley, Travis, Morton; Brereton Diaz, Gallagher, Dack

We say: Blackpool 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn’s form has dropped sharply in recent weeks and, although their hosts have yet to establish consistency in the Championship so far, we hope Appleton’s men triumph in front of a Bloomfield Road crowd.
