Sarasota – Peter died on September 5, 2021 of a heart attack at his home in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife Colleen by his side. Peter was 63 years old. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, raised in Fairview and spent most of his adult life at Timberlea. His first job was to work with his father, the owner of Dave’s Bottle Exchange on Charles Street in Halifax. Many years later, he started his own business. Peter owned and operated the Timberlea Tavern and Richie’s Bar and Restaurant in Bedford. Peter received a liver transplant at the age of 40 and spent the following years traveling between his condo in Florida and his home in Timberlea. Peter and Colleen had just celebrated their birthday in Ireland which they loved. Peter was a force to be reckoned with, with a laugh you won’t forget and an irreverent sense of humor. He made friends and kept them all his life. He was very proud to later learn of his First Nations heritage. Peter leaves to miss him: his wife and best friend Colleen, his family and his beloved dog; his mother, Flora Blackburn; sister, Sylvia (Mickey); brothers, David (Trudy), Philip (Marilyn), Richard (Janet) and their families; his daughters, Meaghan and Jody, and their families. He was predeceased by his infant son, Mathew; and father, Ed Blackburn. Cremation has taken place and he will be buried in Sarasota, Florida. There will be no religious services in Nova Scotia. If desired, a donation to the IWK Health Center Foundation in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada would be appreciated. Rest in peace, little brother.
