EXPECTATIONS were subdued at Moss Farm as Northwich RUFC’s last Test was a visit from Blackburn, seeking promotions.
As always, the blacks were enthusiastic and dedicated to the cause, but ultimately the quality chasm repeated itself again.
Blackburn arrived confident and ready to take advantage of Northwich’s inexperience, and they duly ran in 16 tries to register a 98-7 victory.
However, it turned out there was a highlight for the local faithful as Tom Husbands scored a try which was converted by Harry Naylor in response.
Tom Clark and Chris Heywood, among others, produced exploits in defense as Blackburn dominated, while Aaron Collins continued to be a growing presence within the team.
From a wider perspective, Northwich can regard a weekend in which they were able to field four senior teams for the first time this season as a real achievement as they aim to build for the future.
As for the first team, their next assignment at North Premier will see them make the short trip to neighbors Lymm on Saturday.
