The market stalls all along Poulton Main Street were the centerpiece of the day, which ended with a spectacular fireworks display after the festive lights came on after dark.
Meanwhile, Santa and the Grinch mingled with the enthusiastic families and a host of entertainment added to what the organizers felt was a wonderful atmosphere.
After strong night winds, the opening of the stalls was delayed by an hour but otherwise the day went as planned, with the stalls protected from the elements by the building on either side of the street.

âIt was ideal – and a truly memorable day,â said Heidi Hopkinson, president of Kirkham and Wesham Business Group and vice president of event organizers Lytham Christmas.
âWe thought the idea of ââthe market stalls was better than the conventional stage format this year for Covid security reasons and it certainly turned out to be a big success.
âWe are already thinking of repeating it next Christmas and it may well be back in a similar form this Easter.
“The market comes to the town’s market square every month and is very popular, but it seemed to us that ironically for a market town mentioned in the Domesday Book, Kirkham, as far as we can tell, n never had market stalls along its main street and it turned out so well.
“It worked well for the stores and the response from the public was tremendous. After missing Christmas last year, everyone was thrilled to be part of such an event.”
