After announcing himself for the Championship stage against the Wycombe Wanderers with a goal and an assist, Tyrhys Dolan was at his best a week later when the Blackburn Rovers last visited Pride Park.
Tony Mowbray’s side triumphed 4-0, scoring 11 goals in their first three league games as a wave of optimism swept through Rovers and Dolan was one of the figures sparking excitement with his electrifying ability.
Dolan scored one and caused Lee Buchanan countless problems on the flank, twisting the left-back inside and out as he moved one way or the other thanks to his nimble footwork.
It’s no surprise to learn that the 19-year-old is eagerly awaiting his return to the East Midlands and on this occasion Dolan is looking to perform in the presence of spectators.
“Looking back on the last game in Derby, it brings back good memories and gives me confidence heading into this game,” Dolan told Rovers TV.
âWe want another good performance there and hopefully another goal as well. As a team we all want to build on the good result from last time against Reading.
“We’re in a confident mood right now and training has gone well this week so far.”
The young forward scored his third league goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Reading, rushing inside the sideline to complete a sublime effort into the far corner.
Dolan is keen to develop a consecutive goal streak, but appreciates that he will have to improve his game as opposing teams become more familiar with his box of tricks.
“The goal before this season was to get more starts, more goals, more assists,” he added.
“I’m aiming to achieve double goals by the end of this season and I feel I’m on the right track.
“But I know teams and players will study my game and now it’s about being versatile, adapting and causing problems for the opponents.”
