Claudio Castagnoli strongly suggested who from AEW’s women’s division would be a best fit for Blackpool Combat Club.
Quickly coming together in the AEW Revolution of March 2022, the Blackpool Combat Club is now one of the most dominant factions in AEW. Trained by William Regal, he joined his ranks with Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli, who joined Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley.
In a discussion on the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, Claudio Castagnoli gave his thoughts on how he felt fit to join the team’s ranks. When it comes to the women’s division, ‘The Swiss Superman’ had no qualms about who he would choose.
I would choose Serena Deeb. I think she would be a good fit for the Blackpool Combat Club.
Serena Deeb has been with AEW since September 2020, when she took on Thunder Rosa in a match that earned her plenty of plaudits. Deeb would go on to face Tay Conti, Allysin Kay, and Riho in these debuts, and was the reigning NWA Women’s Champion.
It looks like Deeb will face competition for space at the Blackpool Combat Club, as Jamie Hayter recently opened up about how much she’d love to join the faction – if she wasn’t aligned with Dr Britt Baker.
Yes absolutely. I would love to be [in Blackpool Combat Club]. If I wasn’t with Britt, I’d be willing to go to BCC. It’s just because they kick a**. It’s my shit. They do the things I love to do. I’m a bit rough around the edges and stuff like a regular Brit. I would like to be under their wing and learn from them and be more of a deadly weapon. I’ll be the new Steve Blackman [laughs].
Claudio Castagnoli reigned supreme as ROH World Champion, beating Jonathan Gresham for the title in July 2022.
