Clarets fan – released by Burnley and Blackburn Rovers – makes Football League debut

The 21-year-old midfielder, who previously played for the Fulledge Colts, replaced Shayden Morris at the break as the Cod Army lagged until Harry Darling arrived at Highbury Stadium.

The Clarets fan, released by Burnley and Blackburn Rovers as a youngster, had been named in the matchday squad for League One games against Plymouth Argyle, Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town but was eventually given the chance to make its mark.

The hosts equalized just six minutes after his introduction as Paddy Lane beat goalkeeper Jamie Cumming, on loan from Chelsea, to earn a fourth straight draw for Stephen Crainey’s side.

Harvey Macadam

Macadam, who signed a two-and-a-half-year professional contract, with an option for an additional year, said: “I’m buzzing, I’ve worked so hard to get here – it’s a dream come true – I have to thank the gaffer, it was a brave move that got me into half-time but I’m glad we got a point at the end, it’s a good one against a good team.

“In training I guess I’ve been impressive being in and around the first team, I’ve improved a lot from the under-23 games I’ve played in, but playing in under-23 games the first team, it was difficult, the conditions didn’t help, and the pitch didn’t help.”

He added: “It wasn’t the start I expected but I loved every minute, I have a lot more to show and in better conditions I can do a lot more on and off the ball, in playing against the best players and with the best players, I can learn so much more.

“I’m used to the wild conditions and weird bobbles, we ex-non league players are used to football like that, we have a good mix of experience who haven’t played non-league and youngsters who have because non-league brings out different things that you wouldn’t normally see, it’s benefited me immensely and I can’t wait to do more.
