Championship overview and best bets

Hoping to make it three profitable previews in a row, our tipster Joe Rindl has the best bet for Fulham’s league game with Blackburn.

It wasn’t until November that Fulham traveled to Ewood Park and beat Blackburn Rovers 7-0.

He came smack in the middle of an impressive run for Marco Silva’s side as Fulham won seven consecutive matches between October and November, scoring an incredible 25 goals.

The Cottagers haven’t slowed down much since. In January they recorded their second 7-0 win of the season against Reading, followed by two 6-2 wins over Birmingham and Bristol City.

Kick-off time: 12:30 GMT, Saturday

Last February they lowered their lofty standards ever so slightly, winning just four of their five matches, scoring just eight goals.

Still, the league leaders’ goals-per-game average remains absurdly high at 3.1. This is largely thanks to their main talisman Alaksandar Mitrovic, who scored 34 goals in 31 games with an xG of 25.89.

Mitro and Fulham have taken the league by storm this year and are on track to return to the Premier League as worthy champions, 11 points clear of Huddersfield Town in third after playing three fewer games.

As for Blackburn, their heavy defeat in November sparked a purple stain for Tony Mowbray’s side. Rovers went on to go 10 games unbeaten, tasting victory in eight of those games.

The North West team may now have firmly established themselves in the play-offs, but they will quickly want to reverse their recent form.

Rovers have lost three of their last five games – their 1-0 win over QPR last time out was their first victory in nine games.

What also worries the visitors is their record in the xG battle. The underlying numbers don’t read too nicely. Blackburn have failed to eclipse their opponents’ xG total in eight of their last nine games, including their last win.

Not only did Blackburn fall in defeat, they lost deservedly.

There is a gap between these two teams that is wider than Game 1 versus Game 4 would suggest.

Fulham are, in my opinion, rightfully a small favorite to win this game in front of their home fans.

And as such, FULHAM-1 DISABILITY calls at 7/5 with most bookmakers.
