A Burnley businessman is going viral after sharing TikTok videos of how to fly a helicopter.

Dave Fishwick, who goes by the handle Bank of Dave on his social media accounts, has taken to the social media platform to teach people all about helicopters. One video in particular, with Dave explaining how to control a helicopter with his basic controls, garnered 1.7 million views.

In this particular video, Dave explains and shows the camera how to fly a helicopter, while emphasizing the importance of safety throughout. At one point he even states that they are “inherently unstable machines”.

He goes on to say, “When you get in a helicopter, things try to kill you from the minute you turn it on and I’ve been flying them for 27 years! You have to treat it with a huge amount Out of respect you don’t You can’t just jump in and think you can think about business issues or think about what you’re doing that night, or who you’ll be meeting later in the day.

“You’re 100% focused on staying up there and alive. And there’s just something magical about that.”

In 2011 Dave set up his own bank in Burnley to provide support to local businesses who were struggling to get loans from big banks. Not only does the Burnley businessman center his videos on helicopters, but he also shares TikToks celebrating his professional successes, business ventures and TV appearances.

In a video interview with BuzzFeed News, Dave says, “A few weeks ago I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to do some flight videos’ and I did. Within a few weeks I ended up getting 24 million views and I just started.

“So I’m going to have a lot of fun with it.

“I don’t have a producer with me. I don’t have a director with me. I don’t have an editor with me. I just got me and I don’t even know how to edit on the phone.

“So what I have to do is I have to do it all in one go. I didn’t go to college, I didn’t go to college, I didn’t have these opportunities because I went straight from school to work because my parents couldn’t afford to go to university.”

Dave will see his life portrayed on the big screen, with a Netflix biopic, starring James Bond actor Rory Kinnear, playing the Burnley businessman.
