Blackpool mum accused of lazy by trolls for taking three consecutive maternity leaves

A mum has exposed online trolls after revealing she was planning to take three consecutive maternity leaves.

Hebe Axon, from Blackpool, has been targeted on social media after revealing her third pregnancy; the timing of which would see her take three consecutive periods of mat leave in a row after the birth of her first two children.

The 26-year-old accountant has won the full backing of her bosses despite being ‘nervous’ to tell her – with judgment from strangers being the hardest to navigate in recent months.

Hebe had taken to TikTok to make a funny video about returning to work after maternity leave, to get pregnant again. The mom said Fabulous“I didn’t expect more than a few hundred people to see the video and thought it would make some other women laugh, especially those who might be worried about taking time off from their careers to start a family.

“How wrong I was. It went viral and while there were some positive remarks, there were a lot of really wild ones among the 1.9 million views and 1,331 comments it attracted.

“I was called ‘lazy’ and told I was taking advantage of my business, where I have worked for six years.” 25, and I should be using birth control.”

Some people have gone so far as to call Hebe a “waste of space” and a “burden” on his employer. The backlash saw her struggling to sleep due to stress – but she’s determined not to let the trolls win.

“I’ve worked incredibly hard all my life, got my degrees, paid my taxes and yet because I want to be a mother and spend time with my new babies, I’ve been called a ‘drain “about my employer,” Hebe said.

Sacrifices have also been made within the family, Hebe said, with mat leave resulting in a pay cut.

Maternity leave is her right, says Hebe, and her sharing her story will remove some of the stigma that surrounds maternity leave.
