Blackpool have predicted a line-up against Blackburn Rovers as Jake Beesley could make the Seasiders’ first start

Blackpool will quickly want to put defeat to Preston North End behind them and another Lancashire derby is the perfect platform to do that.

Blackburn Rovers will host Neil Critchley’s side at Ewood Park as Tony Mowbray’s men look to get into the final stages of the campaign to get back into the play-off places. With the Seasiders’ season effectively over in a competitive sense, having defied expectations to come to safety this season, they could look to introduce players to the squad who haven’t had a string of games to prove their abilities.

Neil Critchley is determined his side get a strong end to the campaign under their belt to cap what has been a successful debut season at Championship level. With the midweek disappointment behind them, this could be an opportunity for others to step up to find a solution in the final third, where Blackpool have struggled in the last two games.

Jordan Gabriel returns to contention which is a good time with Dujon Sterling back at Chelsea for an assessment of his ligament injury – this will free up Callum Connolly to play in central midfield where he will likely start the game given Kevin Stewart’s injury that will see him. miss the weekend. Ethan Robson didn’t do much to keep the jersey for this weekend, but neither did his partner Kenny Dougall, although it may be too soon for Matty Virtue to start yet.

Rovers will stick to the back-three form that has served them relatively well this season, despite a dip in form in recent months. That may well see Neil Critchley adapt, but he could also look to implement a 4-4-2 system that has served him well this season.

There are a lot of question marks over the approach Blackpool will take, especially when given the chance to experiment. The lack of wide area quality may see Charlie Kirk step into the fold to provide better cross quality to cause trouble in dangerous areas, but Keshi Anderson just gets the nod instead I think.

Blackpool predicted XI vs Blackburn (4-4-2): GK: Maxwell, RB: Gabriel, CB: Ekpiteta, CB: Keogh, LB: Mari, CM: Connolly, CM: Dougall, RM: Bowler, LM: Anderson, ST: Lavery, ST: Beesley
