Blackburn Rovers duo draw attention to EFL transfer

Doncaster Rovers is keen to secure a double loan deal for Blackburn pair Connor McBride and Aynsley Pears.

The latter joined the Lancashire squad last year as a substitute keeper and has since struggled for consistent playing time, as expected. Therefore, the possibility of getting a move to get minutes may appeal.

And, Pears will have this opportunity, as revealed by Sun reporter Alan Nixon that Doncaster wants the cap, with forward McBride.

The 20-year-old, who is a forward, has also failed to secure any playing time under Tony Mowbray, the youngster showing his talents last season with the development team at Ewood Park.

He was also extremely impressive, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists in just 17 games, earning him a nomination for Premier League 2 Player of the Year.

So the next step in his development might be to get football in the Football League first team and Richie Wellens seems willing to give him that chance.

It remains to be seen if there will be more competition for the pair if Blackburn is ready to sanction the moves.

The verdict

It seems like a deal that works for all parties. Firstly, the duo won’t be playing Blackburn on a regular basis, so they would gain more from playing in League One.

From Doncaster’s perspective they need to make the squad stronger and these two would definitely make the squad better. Pears is a reliable goalkeeper who has the potential to play at a high level.

Meanwhile McBride is a very exciting prospect and after his performances for U23 he could prove to be a nifty addition on loan.
