Blackburn pedophile Terrence Eastwood dies in prison

A pedophile who abused a young boy in a trailer park has died in prison after being diagnosed with cancer.

Terrence Eastwood, who drugged his victim before raping and sexually assaulting her, died at HMP Wymott in Leyland.

The 67-year-old was jailed for 19 years in 2017 after being found guilty by a jury of the offences.

Documents released by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman outline how the care Eastwood received after his cancer diagnosis was partially equivalent to what he would have received in the community – however, recommendations were made on improvement references, protection and record keeping.

The Blackburn man was diagnosed with cancer following a chest X-ray in July 2021, with staff at the Royal Preston Hospital concluding that palliative care was the only treatment option available to him.

Eastwood, who had signed a do not resuscitate (DNR) order, died before filing an application for compassionate care leave, which was being finalized.

A cause of death was later established as lung cancer, while he also suffered from coronary heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver and was HIV positive.

During his trial, Preston Crown Court heard how Eastwood, formerly of Melfort Close, abused a young boy for his own “depraved sexual gratification”.

It was also established that Eastwood continued to abuse his victim after contracting HIV.

At the time, prosecutor Hugh Barton told the court that Eastwood took his then 12-year-old victim on a trailer trip where he assaulted and raped her.

Later, he would buy the boy clothes and gifts in an attempt to keep him from revealing his dastardly conduct.

The court heard that when the victim was 17, Eastwood would take her for driving lessons in nearby Whitebirk and repeatedly sexually assault her.

Eastwood would give the victim cocaine and the painkiller Tramadol before raping her.

The offense only came to light when the victim confided in a counsellor. The adviser told police, who arrested Eastwood in 2015.
