Ben Mee injury blow with Burnley captain set to miss Brentford Premier League clash

Ben Mee is set to miss Burnley’s Premier League game at Brentford on Saturday through injury.

The Clarets captain had a knee problem in the loss to Leicester and missed Chelsea’s 4-0 thrashing last time out.

Sean Dyche described the issue as a jab rather than a twist when discussing Mee’s absence after last weekend’s loss, with the boss confident it wasn’t an injury serious.

Corn Live throws understands that the skipper did not recover in time to play against the Bees.

Nathan Collins is back in line to substitute after coming into the squad against Chelsea.

Burnley then have an extended break with their game against Southampton next weekend after being called off due to Saints’ progress in the FA Cup.

The international break follows, with the Clarets not returning to action until early April, when Man City visit Turf Moor.

The hope will be that Mee can return for the match against his former club and Dyche will no doubt give an update this afternoon when he faces the media in his pre-match press conference.

Burnley travel to Brentford in 18th place, one point behind Everton after playing one game more.

The Bees are six points clear of the Clarets and Burnley will want to make sure the gap doesn’t widen on Saturday.

On the injury front, Dyche remains without Johann Berg Gudmundsson while the weekend could come too soon for Matej Vydra, who has returned to training with the main squad following hernia surgery.

Erik Pieters and Dale Stephens have also been sidelined and it remains to be seen if they will return to the fold this weekend.
